" I'm a great fan of Oprah Winfrey and devour her shows! Little did I imagine tho that my "light bulb" moment (as she would call it!) was to set me off on a path, following in her very own footsteps - SA style! It all started with an innocent complaint one evening to my hubby as we sat watching TV - that there werent a whole lot of inspiring events to attend as a forty something wife, mother and business woman here in "Sleepy Hollow" Pietermaritzburg in April 2008. Listening to me with half an ear (I could tell!) he mumbled something to me about getting out there and doing something myself rather than just "complaining". So, the very next day I took myself off to the biggest conference venue in town, proudly announced to the Marketing manager that I had a plan to "info-tain" the wonderful women of our city better than ever before and with regularity.... and voila! My events company was born! A vote of confidence from this said gentleman and our local newspaper General Manager (for which I will be eternally grateful!) gave me my venue and media sponsorship. All I now had to do was fill a hall with 350 ladies. I didnt once think that it would be difficult and fortunately no one told me so.... and therefore it happened, actually quite painlessly! Not just once but twice (Aug and Nov 08) and now here I am, just a month away from my 3rd such "Talk Show" event and with tickets selling like hot-cakes! The wonderful recipe of charity, celebrity and home-grown "sheroes" (she-heroes) seems to have hit the spot and women are lining up for more! I've even become bolder, putting myself out there as a facilitator of training workshops, professional MC, fundraiser, charity events convenor, motivational speaker... you name it! Anything that allows me to showcase great women and great causes!My kitchen-table entrepreneurship skills (honed over the 12 previous years whilst I built and ran a successful network marketing business) stood me in good stead for organizing, teaching and inspiring others it seems, and I am now savouring that wonderful period of life as "success turns into significance" ( to quote the words of the great Zig Ziglar!)I have also been yet again reminded that Dreams, Courage and a dash of risk make life truly sweet!Remember the simply formula for living your best life - in my opinion:- Find your passion- Be brave enough to put a plan into action- Locate a few serious cheerleaders- Ingnore the naysayers- Work as hard as you've ever done in your life........especially on yourselfand at some point, infront of your very eyes....... I promise you.....you WILL find your dreams becoming REAL!So... special ladies, let's go out and make things happen that will make this world a happier, healthier and lovelier place!Love Ingridwww.ingridroberts.com
