Trends show that more and more South Africans consider themselves “foodies” and “cooking enthusiasts” and embrace cooking as a leisure pursuit. If this is you, uShef is the place to head for. uShef focuses on the entertainment side of cooking, whilst teaching everybody a tip or two.
uShef Cooking school is the brainchild of Gill Ostrowski, who identified a gap in the market for fun adult and children entertainment. At uShef Cooking School, a domestic worker will increase her skills and earning potential, a stress-ridden executive will experience a couple of hours away from it all and a child will have a different party experience to brag about for the next few coming months!
We offer a variety of cooking styles and are open for “Fun Cooking” evenings every Wednesday and Thursday. However, if you can get a group of friends together you can book out the venue any time. It’s a great way to celebrate a birthday, kitchen tea or girls night out!
Teambuilding cooking is also offer, which is a fun way of getting to know your staff while you all prepare a meal from scratch. This is where teamwork really counts and the promise of a great meal at the end of it is a much greater motivation than great heights and water!
Our outrageously fun kids cooking classes are a great way to introduce kids to the joy of cooking! Since everything we do is designed to be hands-on, it really makes cooking fun for everybody.
Ushef is situated in a residential property in Johannesburg North that creates a beautiful and private venue, with plenty of secure parking. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need from the smallest measuring spoon to the biggest pot, as well as every "modcon" that would make our cooking experience that much easier!
During the fun cooking events you cook in pairs in our designer kitchen, assisted by our Chef Gill, our Assistant Chef Leah and a cleaner (you don’t have to clean up after yourselves…Yippee!). Once the food is made everyone moves out onto the large patio, to enjoy the products of their labour.
…By the way, uShef are great followers of Floyd and believe that you cannot cook with out a glass of ‘something’ nearby!
